Intro to Astrophotography Group Workshop

118.00

Would you like to learn how to photograph dreamy starry night landscapes? Add a human element into a night shot, using the Long Exposure method of photography?

If you own a DSLR or Mirrorless camera then this workshop is for you.

This is a 3 hour workshop, select the date which works for you below.

Location (locations vary, see below when you elect date):

We will start with catching sunset (depending on time of year… usually daylight savings months only) where we will chat and learn about how your cameras shutter speed, ISO and aperture work together in relation to capturing starry night long exposures.
You will learn how to manually focus your lens to capture awesome astro images. We will discuss composition, adding a human element giving your photos that WOW factor and adjusting your cameras white balance for shooting in different situations (moon vs no moon).

* If there are some clouds about the workshop will go ahead and we will do some light painting, while watching for some breaks in the sky. We will also add the "human element" into some of our photos, so bring your head torch or torch plus we will look at creating interesting night landscape photos.

This workshop is a great way, if you've always wanted to learn long exposure astrophotography (stars, learning settings for capturing Aurora) but been cautious or hesitant to go alone at night. Come learn in a small group, hands on workshop.

What you need:

  • Camera and a lens that allows you to manual focus.

  • Tripod (if you don’t have one, no worries let me know and you can borrow a MeFOTO tripod on the night)

  • Remote shutter release (optional

  • Head torch or torch

Max 6 people for this workshop, as we want you to walk away feeling confident having had a fun time with a bundle of awesome starry night long exposure images to take home and edit.

The workshop is kept small, so everyone gets ample time for help and to ask questions. See what people have said about my workshops here.

Supported by Samyang Optics Australia who are known for their premium night scape lenses, if you shoot with a Canon camera I will have two Samyang lenses with me on the night that you can try out. The Samyang XP 14mm f2.4 and Samyang 20mm f1.8

No tripod? No problems, I am a MeFOTO tripod Ambassador so let me know and you can borrow a MeFoto Australia tripod if you don't have one.
