We’ve all seen silky smooth water photographs and thought, ‘how was this captured’. With today’s modern cameras and using Circular Polarising Filters and Neutral Density Filters you too can capture these stunning breathtaking images.

Join Pro photographer and Athabasca Filters Australia & Benro Tripod Ambassador Ben Eriksson on a fun session learning to photograph using filters in a small group workshop of up to 4 people.

To capture any image, you need to understand how your camera, lens, tripod and settings selected work together. Learn the techniques needed on this on location, hands on workshop. Come capture something magical that makes you go WOW!

Throughout the workshop, we will discuss:

  • The Exposure Triangle: Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO

    Our settings are extremely important when photographing long exposure images, we discuss how to calculate exposure times based on the filters being used.

  • White Balance

  • Obtaining manual focus and using auto focus.

  • Composition and how to navigate the scene

  • Mobile apps used for planning a shoot and calculating exposure times

On this workshop you will use a set of Athabasca Australia Filters including:

  • Ark A3 100mm Holder

  • CPL (Circular Polarizing Filter)

  • A range of ND Filters

  • A range of Grad Filters

The aim of the workshop is to have you feeling comfortable using filters, to capture long exposure photos. For you to have a better understanding of composition and framing up your photos.

What you need:

  • Camera and a lens that allows you to manual focus.

  • A lens without a lens hood or a detachable lens hood thats accepts, a filter thread of 52mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm or 82mm.

  • Tripod

  • Remote shutter release - unless your camera has the inbuilt ability to take a long exposure over 30 seconds.

  • Workshop (location dependant) and runs for 2 & 1/2 - 3 Hours

* In the event of any cancellation due to poor weather, you can reschedule to a new workshop date. Workshops need a minimum of TWO attendees to run.

* If you are unable to attend within 24hrs of the workshop we offer a reschedule to a new workshop date but we must be notified via email or text message.

* General fitness is required, warm clothing for cooler months and comfortable shoes with grip.

- Group Workshop is a small group between 4-6 people, workshop dependant.
